Great economy from the new Vauxhall Corsavan

With a sporty, coupe-like appearance, muscular rear treatment and purposeful front end, the new Vauxhall Corsavan isn’t the sort of van that looks like it would shine in the face of the ‘green economy’, however its set a new class MPG record.

A Corsavan 1.3 CDTi Club, driven by journalist John Kendall and university tutor Paul Nieuwenhuis, clocked up an impressive 81.02mpg on the two-day eco event. The 81.02mpg figure was the highest recorded on the event, a two-day, 334-mile route across Hampshire, Somerset and Devon incorporating motorway, town and cross-country driving – a real selling point in today’s tight operating budgets.

The 2008 Paris Motor commencing on the 2nd October will see Vauxhall unveiling the new stand-alone Vauxhall Insignia Estate. Known as the Sports Tourer, it will be available to UK buyers in early spring 2009 and will feature two new engines; a more powerful turbo diesel and a smaller capacity turbocharged petrol unit in addition to the five power plants available from launch in the new Insignia saloon and hatchback models.

The new Vauxhall Insignia, the Vectra replacement made a big hit when it launched in London. A 4.7 metre-diameter orb was suspended by a crane high above Potters Fields Park today before a massive object fell 45 metres to earth - in just six seconds - in a breathtaking stunt. That object was the new Vauxhall Insignia, a car never seen before by the British public.

More than 300 guests were on hand to watch the new car plunge from the orb as it was suspended in the air. Alain Visser, Chief Marketing Officer for GM Europe, who drove the Insignia onto the stage after it landed safely on the ground, said:

“We are very proud of the Insignia and decided that an extraordinary car needed an extraordinary entrance, that’s why we chose to drop in at one of London’s most frequented and iconic locations - Tower Bridge just next to the London Assembly”.

The new Vauxhall Insignia coming to Grimshaws

The all new Vauxhall Insignia is coming to Grimshaws. According to Andy Gilson, Marketing Director, Vauxhall Motors, “The Insignia is one of our most ambitious projects to date, and we will be revealing the full extent of our technological progress when the car is officially launched at the British International Motor Show in London on July 22″.

The Insignia boasts a flowing, powerful silhouette with a coupe-like roofline. The body’s sculpted shape is accented by sweeping front and rear light designs and enhanced by a bold radiator grille with a new-look Vauxhall emblem. A distinctive “blade” feature runs from behind the front wheel along the side of the car, further emphasising its taut and rakish lines.
